When Do you need A Party Wall Surveyor?
When Do You Need a Party Wall Surveyor?
You may need to serve a Party Wall Notice if your work involves:

• Building a wall on or near the boundary line
• Carrying out work on a shared wall or structure
• Excavating within 3 or 6 metres of a neighbouring building
• Loft conversions that involve steel beams into a party wall
• Removing chimney breasts
• Basement excavations

It is important to understand that the purpose of the Party Wall etc Act 1996 is not to prevent you from carrying out your proposed building works - in fact, it's designed to facilitate them. Provided the correct procedure is followed, including serving the appropriate notices within the required timeframes, the Act can give you legal rights to proceed with works that might otherwise face objections.

This is why involving a professional surveyor early in the process is highly recommended. At Home Check UK we bring over 20 years of experience in construction and law to best serve our clients, ensuring your project is handled with confidence and compliance.
